Big up to stand up black women!

This a video put together by my good friend MyCreed (pronounced Mi-CREED). From his youtube channel. In his videos he typically tries to address whatever is relevant in the black community. If you watch his videos you'll hear and see references to "world orphan". "World Orphan" is a philosphy he has about black and other indegenous people. Some things I agree with, some I don't.

I once again must say...because some people get it twisted. This video is about honoring stand up black women. ANd basically what my friend does is he goes around our college campus and asks black people what he thinks personifies a stand up black woman. I do not agree with everything that is said in this video...But I do agree with a lot of it.

Enjoy...and feel free to check out his other videos.

hairy situations

Women it's 2009...SHAVE! Your man should never be able to empathize with the dinosaur barber clippers from the Flintstones. Yabba Dabba dead that shit. And I know... I know...It's your body. I completely understand ideals of the female power movement. I understand that it's all psychological warfare...but AGAIN it's 2009! Refusing to shave doesn't connote Power...it connotes...
Cut that shit out...LITERALLY!

Got dayum I'm easily amused...

Why I don't draw tattoos for people anymore

Here is the the thing. We all know that the tattoo business is booming. There are a very small group of people are getting good tattoos, and the rest are putting bullshit on their bodies. None of us want to put bullshit, or what can be perceived as bullshit on our bodies. So what do people do? They go to a friend or an associate of theirs that they know can draw to illustrate whatever concept they have in their heads.

THE REAL:

The secret behind a good tat lies first in the hands of the person getting it. Sometimes the way you've conceptualized the tattoo just sucks. Either it's unrealistic, or it'll just look bad all together. That's why I suggest, even if you say you can't draw, that you TRY to sketch it out yourself. And when I say sketch, I want you to do it like a tattoo artist would. You know where you want it and how big you want it, so put a piece of paper or have someone else put a piece of paper in that spot...then draw a circle of approximately how big you wish it to be. Then after you've done that draw your design in the circle. Chances are if you can't draw a basic blueprint of the design NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO. We are artists not magicians.

The second tip to getting a good tattoo is making sure the person actually putting the marks on your skin is legit. Do a little research for goodness sake. Ask if you can see pictures of (his/her) previous work. Ask (him/her) if you can watch while they tat someone else up. If their shit is wack then keep looking. Remember you are to good to get a wack tattoo.

My Beef with drawing them is in the whole scenario:

You (the artist) get the idea from the person...It 85% of the time makes no sense at all...but they tend to have so much confidence in you that you take on the task anyways...After you've pulled out half of your hair trying to visualize the gibberish you've been given a light bulb finally goes off and you get to drawing...In the chance you finish it and give it to them what usually happens is:

-They sit on it forever
-They lose it/damage it/etc
-They like it but not enough to put on their body

So you go through all that (usually without getting paid) for nothing. (And unless you plan on using the picture to initiate a tattoo career those sketches are usually useless as far as your portfolio)

But even if you did it and they took it to the shop...THE TATTOO ARTIST STILL HAS TO REDRAW EVERYTHING TO FIT THEIR BODY ANYWAYS. SO THE ARTIST JUST DID ALL THAT FOR NOTHING.

I just felt the need to let you know...

That just because something is on my blog...doesn't necessarily mean that I co-sign it. 80% of the time I post something...it's to [try to] make you think. The other 20% is to [try to] make you laugh.

**UPDATE
After clicking "Post" and seeing the screen come back to my blog I realized that I often post to share stuff that I think is cool as well...so ummm...snatch like 30 percent from that 80...lol

A rather profound analogy...

by Kanye West

"Religion is like clothing. People want comfort. People don’t want to have to take that off. People don’t want to accept the concept of there not being a heaven possibly, or the concept of losing someone and not seeing them again. The only thing that keeps you going is the idea that you will see them again.
It’s [religion] also like branding. Some people go Bapes head to toe, some people do Polo head to toe. Some people go Rocawear head to toe. Me, I kind of just go into the store and take the piece that I like the most."

Okay so I have a slight bias

As long as I can remember thick chicks have always shown me love...even when I was too young to know what's so great about a big booty and or thick thighs...even when I didn't show love back...even when I wasn't so sure if I loved myself.

This blog is for those chicks that start a one woman parade every time they find a pair of jeans that can hold her curves..."properly".

Much love.

She needs her ass whupped

Is Obama f*ckin up???

He's addressed on the last "New Rule"

Yes I know he's only been in there 6 months...but if what Bill says is true, and his bill is calling for a 4% emission reduction and we need 40% then we got hoodwinked by one more president who talked a good game but in the end that shit ended up being the game of "Sorry" as in my bad maybe next time. The only problem is, we can't afford to fuck around with the planet. I'm a big Obama supporter, but the main reason I got on board was he was supposed to be the anti-politician...or at least anti the old bullshit. I haven't given up hope, but like Bill I sure wish he was as gangsta as Bush when it came to getting his shit through (I know...still early....but still)

Put simply..."women be bullshittin"

I remember a long while back when all the chicks were going crazy over Allen Iverson, a friend of mine made a statement that went something like...

Maaaaaaaan... There's like a thousand niggas in the hood that look exactly like Allen Iverson and don't get a quarter of the play that he does... I guess that's the difference between men and women... A man can see a beautiful woman working at the gas station and STILL want to holla. A man can be watching a movie and want to holla at a movie extra. You gotta be a star to get a woman's attention.

Train of though>>>

I was on Facebook and I saw one of the new quizzes was themed around The Chappelle Show.>> One of my friends got Tron as the person they are most like...lol>>>I loved that show>>>Since it (along with the Boondocks) are off the air their is a void in television that needs to be filled. We need our perspective.>>> It's a shame that inn 2009 we still don't have even a handful of programs on the air at the same time that represents us in a positive fashion.>>>Recently Spike Lee has come foward calling out Tyler Perry for perpetrating baffoonery in his television programs. Truth is I've been saying that shit about him ever since I saw his first play, Diary of Mad Black Woman on video. Dude is smart though, he covers his tracks in religion. If it weren't for him having his characters shout out Jesus 10 second after shucking and jiving he'd probably be found out by now.>>>I hate when in discussions about sellouts that some muhsukkas try to drop Chappelle's name on the sly tip...When in reality not only was his show about pointing out those types of activities in the world but...shit...the muh sukka is obviously the poster child FOR NOT SELLING OUT!...He walked away from 50 mill because he didn't like the POSSIBILTY that people might try to get him to sell out...That's some shit. Sadly, I know for a fact that more of my people than I'm willing to admit not only would've took that money but probably would be breaking new ground in shucking in jiving right now...I'm talking cooning on mars type shit...smh.

"Whatever happened to crazy? Can't people be crazy anymore?"--Chris Rock

The answer is yes...and here is proof.

I've heard about the whole hairy palms thing, but this is ridiculous!

Lol...it's actually a hand-made type face piece done by the Hand Made Font company. Can you imagine the process of getting hair, cutting it, arranging it to look like this, and making sure it stays in place for a picture??? Sounds like some farglenockle bullshit...lol. Big up to creative minds with the patience it takes to carry out their visions.

More from the toy chest...

After finishing the design of how I wanted the character to look I realized that the way I had his feet situated would have messed his feet up during the cutting process. So redrew his feet this time facing straight forward. The details of the shoe haven't changed any. I just didn't feel it was necessary at this time to draw the details, when the sketch's sole purpose is to be a guide for the power saw to cut around.

This is the side view

This is the aerial view.

I just started cutting today. I don't have my camera with me to show you guys how it looks right now. There is still a lot of work to do though. One thing that slowed me up is...well see...first off I'm sculpting the figurine out of sheets of foam (about 3" thick) glued together. I glued them last Friday thinking they'd be dry by today...WRONG...While I was cutting the two sheets in the middle came apart. My teacher said I probably could just press them together and still cut like that...but I was already nervous about the saw as it is without having to do some crazy sh*t. So I decided to just let it dry another night. Hopefully it'll be ready tomorrow.

So far I've already used the side cutting guide. So the profile is there. I got about 15-20% into the frontal view before it split on me. I'll take a picture of it before I continue cutting.

Stay Tuned
